FAIRFIELD — When Cordelia Community Park opened in June, it was the biggest change in Fairfield’s park system since the 1980s, when Laurel Creek Park opened.

Located at 1300 Gold Hill Road, the park is 48 acres with two large areas where dogs can be allowed off-leash, as well basketball courts, baseball fields, a skateboard zone, jogging trail, bocce ball courts, a multiple-purpose grass field, barbecue and picnic area, toddler and youth playgrounds.

“It feels great,” said Fred Beiner at the park’s grand opening. He worked with the city and public on the project for 13 years. “The community has really embraced this project.”
