I would also like to add the following: Every public safety department in this county also has a 7 digit emergency number that can be called from your cell phone. This was done years ago when all 9-1-1 calls made from a cell phone went to CHP. The CHP dispatcher who answered the call then had to figure out the call was about and if it was not a call involving a CHP response, then to what public safety agency to forward that call to. This could take several minutes. Now days with the smarter cell phones, GPS, etc…calls can be routed directly to the public safety department that has jurisdiction where the call is being made. But this does not always work. Many time you mobile 9-1-1 call goes to CHP or even a call from Fairfield could be routed to Solano SO. The 7 digit emergency number for Fairfield is 428-7373.
