Travis Air Force Base still county’s economic champ

FAIRFIELD — Although the Department of Defense does not dominate the workforce in Solano County to the degree it did in the past, employment at Travis Air Force Base continues to keep that military installation first on the list of the largest employers in the county.

An estimated 13,400 people work at the base, which has an estimated economic impact of $1.6 billion annually.
